The Irregular

It's been a long time, friend!

Letter from the Farmer-General

Hello friends! I don't know about you, but we've been doing a lot of reaching out to old friends during these times. It's been a long time since we've dusted off our email list.

Some of you might know us as the florist from your wedding. Some of you might remember us from terrarium classes or garden club talks. Some of you might remember us from WAAAY back when we sold plants and flowers at the Pittsburgh Public Market (oh, the glory that was the old Public Market!) or later in our shop in Lawrenceville or our flower CSA.

These past few years we've been mostly focused on flowers for weddings and events, continuing our emphasis on locally-grown flowers and sustainable practices. These days, there aren't a lot of weddings or events happening (though we're still planning for a future where we can gather together to celebrate things again).

But through all of this, we're still busy out in the gardens growing flowers – over 17,000 stems of flowers from our studio in Lawrenceville and our 6-acre urban farm last year, and still expanding! I don't know about your garden, but here the daffodils and hellebores have all started to peter out, but the viburnums are blooming and the alliums and wisteria are just getting ready to pop. The peonies are already knee high or more and with luck we'll have some open by Mother's Day. We've got dahlias started indoors, and it looks like we might be past the frost (fingers crossed!) – now if we can only get a few dry days to plant them out!

This letter isn't a sales pitch, but if you're interested, we're putting together some seasonal flower arrangements for Mother's Day (or any day, really) which you can get delivered, and we're hoping to add pickups soon so you can see a real live (masked, gloved) person. If you know someone who could use a little floral cheer and would like to support local businesses, you can order on our website.

Anyway, we'll keep writing and letting you know what's going on here, and we'd love to hear back from you! Send us an email, connect on Instagram or Facebook, or heck, even send us a postcard! Tell us what's going on in your garden.
